Montana Has One of Autumn’s Most ‘Scenic’ Train Rides
There is something nostalgic about train rides. I have ridden on trains pulled by old locomotives and I have ridden on high speed trains with wi-fi. There is just something that I enjoy about riding the train.
Living in Montana there aren't that many options for train travel. If you are looking for more of an adventure and fun, then you should check out Montana's Dinner Train. They offer holiday adventure trips to the "North Pole", like they do every year.

If you are looking for travel, one of the most scenic train rides you can take in the entire country goes through Montana. So it would make sense that it would also be one of the best train rides to view fall foliage. According to Travel and Leisure they have listed the top "15 Scenic U.S. Train Rides for Fall Foliage Views", and Amtrak's Empire Builder train route is on the list.
The Empire Builder starts in Chicago and travels west through Montana and Glacier National Park. One of the most beautiful places in country in the fall is Glacier National Park, in my humble opinion and being able to see that by train is why the route has made it to the list.
There is talk that Amtrak may be expanding in Montana in the future with more routes including a possible North/South route.
