Montana’s Best Traditional Restaurant Revealed — It’s German!

Since Montana became a state in November 1889, we have seen people from all over the world come here and call it home.  

There were plenty of reasons that people found their way to Montana, one of which was the chance to get a job. As the West was expanding, there was a need for building railroads, mining, and timber work.

This may be surprising to some, but when it comes to ancestry, the highest percentage of Montana’s population doesn’t come from Ireland; it comes from Germany. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 25% of Montanans reported they have German ancestry. While 14% report Irish ancestry.

In the case of Montana’s best traditional restaurant, it shouldn't be a surprise then that a German restaurant would top the list. At least according to Reader’s Digest.

They have listed Montana’s best traditional restaurant as Bayern Brewery’s Edelweiss Bistro.

If you are looking for some Bavarian food, this is the place to go. They have homemade Bavarian pretzels and multiple schnitzels to choose from. They import pickles and mustards from Germany. Other food is locally sourced here in Montana.

Not only has Bayern Brewing been recognized for its award-winning brews, but it’s getting recognized for its traditional German food.
