A Missoula-fied Parody of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’
Yesterday we learned what Montana's top Christmas song was and while it's a little boring, it didn't make the list of annoying Christmas songs, so that's good.
A Christmas song I loved as a kid, but I think other people thought was annoying, was "The 12 Days of Christmas." The variations on the song were as enjoyable to me as the original.
Isn't that part of the holidays, too? Taking a tradition and putting your spin on it? My aunt and uncle have changed the words to "The Night Before Christmas" for their annual Christmas Newsletter for years.
In light of having fun with holiday tradition (and Christmas Carols) here's a "Missoula" version of "The 12 Days of Christmas."
12 Urban Deer
(of course, there are many more than 12)
11 Football Players
(Go Griz!)
10 Local Bands
(One place to catch many talented Missoula musicians is this year's Missoula on Main celebration on New Year's Eve.)
9 Ways Across Town
(it's a special skill)
8 Skiiers Skiing
(Friends on Powder Day!)
7 Floaters Floating
(how many tubes have you seen connected and floating down the Clark Fork?)
6 Pack of Beer
(Opinion: Beer is better than "Six geese a laying.)
5 Missoula Valleys
(this one worked out well)
4 Roundabouts
(probably deserved a higher number)
3 Rivers
(this one worked out well, too)
2 Stadiums
(Go Griz! Go Paddleheads!)
and a broken-down Subaru SUV
(what's more Missoula than an old Subaru on its last legs?)
