One of Missoula's best outdoor cinema series has just published its 2024 summer movie schedule and it looks like it will be another season to please moviegoers of all ages.

The North-Missoula Community Development Corporation (NMCDC) has been hosting Missoula Outdoor Cinema for the last 20 years with donations and sponsorships from these events supporting the series itself and the efforts of the NMCDC. The NMCDC supports multiple communities in Missoula, not only the Northside and Westside but also the Heart of Missoula. Through their mission, they "...develop permanently affordable homeownership opportunities" and work to advocate in various ways on behalf of the communities they support.

"The Missoula Outdoor Cinema is one of the NMCDC's most well-known, well-loved, and longstanding programs," said Brittany Palmer, Executive Director in a press release. "This event series offers the opportunity for families and neighbors across Missoula to come together to the Northside, celebrate our amazing community, and have fun!"

2024 Missoula Outdoor Cinema

This year's series welcomed a new Event and Volunteer Coordinator.

But the series is also supported by familiar Missoula faces too, like Projectionist Ken Grinde who also works at the Roxy Theater.

Each event in the series kicks off with a block party followed by a film. The block parties will have food and activities and offer a great way to socialize before settling in for the film.

Here's the 2024 lineup selected by the neighbors in the NMCDC community.

"This year, our Missoula Outdoor Cinema films were primarily chosen by neighbors through social media voting polls, and then confirmed based on availability," Jana Richter, with NMCDC. "Bring Them Home (our final film of the series) was chosen by NMCDC staff to emphasize the importance of showcasing local Indigenous stories and deepen our community's understanding of Indigenous people in Montana and their connection to the land we call home."
