Tradition. Honor. Legacy. Griz Football's most valued accomplishment.

The Montana Grizzlies #37 Legacy Tradition.

Each year a Montanan is bestowed the #37 uniform. Some of the greatest Griz on the gridiron have donned the #37 jersey since 1983 when Fullback Kraig Paulson began it. Last year it was Levi Janacaro (Missoula), two years ago it was Marcus Welnel (Helena) and from 1987-198 it was Tim Hauck (Big Timber) just to name a few of the all-time greats. Now, we know who will be the 18th recipient of the #37 jersey...

Cornerback Trevin Gradney (Billings)

Gradney led the Big Sky Conference in interceptions last year. The 2023 season began at a rapid pace when the Billings West product picked a quarterback off in four consecutive ballgames. Then later in the year, Gradney snatched his 5th INT from the rivals over the hill.

A terrific article on Gogriz.com documented when Gradney found out from his predecessor Janacaro that he would be the next #37.

"Levi said 'I'm not going to beat around the bush, Trev. Marcus isn't coming. This is about the number, and I want you to wear it.' And I was like, Ooohhh...," Gradney told the Montana Sports Information Department.

According to the press release, Gradney is the first Billings native to receive #37.

All I have to say is: Lets goooooooooooooo. Congratulations, Trevin.
