The Pioneer Baseball League season isn't even two months in. Opening Day was on May 21st and the Missoula Paddleheads have run roughshod over the rest of the league going 32-10 through their first 42 games. Oh, and by the way, the Paddleheads have clinched a spot in the 2024 Pioneer Baseball League Playoffs.


A 7-4 win on Sunday over the Boise Hawks clinched the PBL First Half Championship. The Paddlheads' lead currently stands at 6 games over the Glacier Range Riders, who have won 4 games in a row. But the streaking Range Riders couldn't catch Missoula.

A look at the numbers

The Paddleheads lineup has been outstanding, otherworldly even. Through 42 games, the Paddleheads lineup has scored double-digit runs in 22 games - over half of the total appearances. The good guys lead the PBL in batting average (.334), home runs (77) and total runs (449). They're so dominant that the next closest team in runs scored is the Northern Colorado Owlz with 382.

The first half runs through July 14, so the Paddleheads captured their 4th consecutive first-half title with a week to play. Half division championships are not uncommon for the Paddleheads, but the big prize is still the PBL Championship - a title that's alluded Missoula since 2019.
