How To Protect Your Dog From Rattlesnakes This Summer
As the temperatures continue to climb, Rattlesnakes will begin to emerge from their dens and become more prominent across the countryside.
It's hard to believe, but thirty-nine states in America are home to rattlesnakes.
So whether you're recreating outdoors or just spending time in the backyard, staying rattlesnake-aware is vital to a safe and relaxing summer.
Protect Pets From Rattlesnakes
Numerous things can be done to keep yourself and your pets safe from rattlesnakes.
Some are preventative, and others mitigate the effects of a bite.
We'll focus on a few of the things we do each year to ensure our two dogs' safety.
Snake Fence
Yes, you heard right; it was a snake fence.
I didn't know these were even a thing until we moved into our home.
We live in a very snake-prone area, and this fence is a game changer.
It's very similar to chicken wire, with smaller holes, partially buried in the ground, and roughly a foot and a half tall.
Snake Deterrent
This stuff is potent; you can find it at most hardware stores.
The product we use is environmentally friendly and contains naphthalene, sulfur, and a few other ingredients.
However, be aware that it is some smelly stuff.

Rattle Snake Vaccine For Dogs
Every year, we get our dogs a rattlesnake booster.
This shot does not prevent a dog from getting bit or the venom from affecting it.
However, it slows down the effects of the venom and buys you some time to get your dog to the vet.
