Where Does Montana’s Bottled Water Actually Originate?

I cannot tell you how many trips I have taken over McDonald Pass near Helena. However, I can tell you how many jugs and bottles we have stashed at home for collecting what my son calls "magical mountain water." I'm talking about the roadside spring that rushes out of the side of the mountain. The popular stop on the pass allows people a chance to fill up jugs of natural spring water for free.

The spring water comes straight from the source and is filled with minerals. I joke with my son that the water is so thick you have to chew it. But, the minerals are great for your body.

It got me thinking. "Where does Montana's bottled water come from?" Did that bottle of water really come from a mountain spring like the one outside Helena?

Business Insider released an animated video revealing where some of the country's most popular brands of bottled water are actually coming from. Some brands are simply purified tap water, while others are from the ground.

According to Business Insider

Bottled water comes in two varieties. There's purified water, which is water from local sources (a.k.a. tap water) that has been filtered, and there's natural spring water, which is sourced from springs across the United States. So the bottled water that costs you several dollars may be sourced from the earth in Florida, or it's just from the local water supply in New York.

• Crystal Geyser (California)
• Montana Treasure (Montana)
• Arrowhead (Colorado)

Don't let the price of a bottle of water fool you. The fancy sports bottle and label doesn't change the fact that the water is purified tap water. Sometimes the inexpensive bottles of water are the REAL DEAL.
