It seems to be a growing trend these days. News of Missoula eateries closing seems to be happening on a weekly basis. Between hiring shortages and inflation, the food service industry is struggling. This may be the reason behind Missoula Eateries closing their doors.

Just check out some of the places that have closed that we wish we could bring back.

Over the weekend we heard that HuHot has permanently closed.

According to a press release from HuHot

It is with a heavy heart that we write to inform you of the permanent closure of HuHot on Brooks. After more than two decades of serving the Missoula community, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our flagship location.

HuHot Mongolian Grill first opened its doors in Missoula in 1999, and it has been an incredible journey. Over the years, the company has grown immensely, expanding to over 50 locations in 17 states, all while maintaining our commitment to the values and traditions that originated right here in Missoula.

The decision to close our Missoula location was not made lightly, and we want to express our deepest gratitude to you, our loyal guests, who have been a fundamental part of our success over the years. Your support, feedback, and enthusiasm have been invaluable, and it has been our pleasure to serve you.

As a person who has been a big fan of HuHot, this news is hard to handle. I attended school in Spokane when I first had my first taste of the "Hu". When I moved back to Missoula I was so stoked to see that we had built one as well! As it turns out their whole corporate office for the chains is located right here in our backyard. That's another gut punch to the business turnover lately. Even with their home office here, they are not immune to the changes we are seeing.

Many thanks for the great food and memories, Hu Hot. You will definitely be missed.
