Montana Set for Massive 50-Mile Garage Sale Event for 2024
There is something about shopping at garage sales. You get this feeling like you are a treasure hunter, searching for bargains on stuff that somebody else doesn't want. You never know what you will find. A barely used designer handbag? An old lamp made out of mallard duck carvings? Maybe a vintage set of cocktail glasses that say "Kiss me, I'm Irish?" It all depends on what you are looking for.
I have fond memories of waking up early to go shopping at garage sales with my parents. Mom would bust in and yell, "Get up, we gotta get there before all the good stuff is gone." We would then drive around town with the classified section of the newspaper, looking for balloons and garage sale signs. Sometimes there would only be a small handful of sales that weekend. But, it was still fun negotiating something priced at $.50 down to $.25.
Now, imagine an entire weekend of garage sale shopping where you can barely toss a rock without hitting another garage sale. Garage sales as far as the eye can see. A 50-mile-long stretch of sales. Well, that dream is becoming a reality yet again this year in western Montana. The annual 50 Mile Garage Sale is returning this Summer to the Bitterroot Valley.
June 28th and 29th from 8 AM until 4 PM - RAIN OR SHINE
According to the 50 Mile Garage Sale website
Stretching through the Bitterroot Valley, the sale runs from Lolo, Montana in the north to Darby, Montana at the southern end. Following Highway 93 and the Eastside Highway with a few side tracks.
It is easy to get involved with the sale. If you are looking to sell some of your things, you can list your location on the map. These maps can be viewed on the 50 Mile Garage Sale website, making it easy for buyers to find your location, using Google Maps. You can even advertise your sale and receive more exposure on the website.
