ATTENTION: CDC Issues Recall On Certain Nuts Sold in Montana
I don't know a single kid who doesn't enjoy a freshly baked cookie. For me, it is one of lives simple pleasures. The smell of a hot chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven. I have even gone as far as crashing open houses, just to snag one of their chocolate marketing tricks. I guess you can say I have a place in my heart for cookies... So what does that have to do with nuts?

I will tell you one thing that doesn't Belong on a cookie. WALNUTS!
My Mom had a way of destroying a perfectly good cookie by filling it with walnuts. She knew I couldn't stand it, yet she did it anyway. But, thanks to a recent CDC recall, I can now tell my Mom to quit it with the walnuts.
According to the CDC, if you have bought walnuts from a bulk bin recently, you may be part of the recall. The brand Gibson Farms is sold in Montana. One of the 19 states involved in the recall.
Check your pantries, refrigerators, and freezers for walnuts. If you can’t tell if it’s part of the recall, it’s safer not to eat them.
- Ask the store where you purchased if recalled walnuts were sold.
- Some stores may repackage bulk walnut halves and pieces into plastic clamshells or bags.
The Gibson Farms walnuts are being recalled due to possible E. Coli contamination. So far, only 2 people have reported getting sick and were treated. Both patients are from Washington and California.
The CDC has a list of stores that sell Gibson Farms bulk bins. But, warn that some stores can also repackage bulk nuts. When in doubt, throw them out.
And don't ever allow your Mom to put walnuts in her freshly baked cookies.
