Searchers looking for a former Marine who went missing last year in the Bob Marshall Wilderness rescued a diabetic hiker from southeastern Michigan who was having a medical emergency.

Search crews came across Kevin Latshaw of Lake Orion , Mich., on Tuesday after his insulin pump broke.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says there was no way Latshaw could have hiked out on his own. He was hiking with his father.

Medics with the searchers treated Latshaw until a Montana Army National Guard helicopter flew him to Helena, where he was transported to a hospital. Dutton says Latshaw was doing well Wednesday.

The search crews were looking for Noah Pippin, an ex-Marine who was last seen in September 2010 near Salt Mountain.
