The administrator for the Federal Railway Administration, John Szabo will be visiting Montana this weekend to speak to the National Association of Rail Passengers. NARP Representative Barry Green recently spoke with KGVO news about the groups intent to bring more passenger rail to Montana.

The proposed Northwest-Hiawatha route that Mr. Green mentions would run from Chicago through Montana and out to Seattle. Opponents of the plan point out that it would be too expensive to put in place and that Amtrak is too reliant on Federal funds. Discussion on this and other passenger rail topics will occur this Saturday at the Lake Lodge in Whitefish from 9 am to 5 pm. You can find out more about the meeting by visiting the NARP website.
