Hamilton’s Public Fireworks Display at the County Fairgrounds
The free fireworks display at dusk July 4th will be at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds again this year, but a road construction project on Fairgrounds Road might cause a detour for those wanting to watch. Half of the road between the Fairgrounds and Stonegate subdivision is closed and only EASTBOUND traffic is allowed. That means if you're coming along Fairgrounds Road from Hamilton High School, for instance, you can't get there. You must turn south on Kurtz Lane to Marcus Street, turn right on US 93 and then get to the Fairgrounds from US 93. The only two main routes to the fairgrounds are from US 93 go east onto Fairgrounds Road and on Old Corvallis Road go south to the fairgrounds.
Now, when you get there, two areas are available for parking. This is easy. They're the normal parking areas for the Ravalli County Fair - the north parking lot, just off Old Corvallis Road and the south parking lot at the softball fields across from the fairgrounds on Fairgrounds Road. The grassy area (where the fair carnival usually sets up) is available for lawn chairs and blankets, just inside the main gates. In fact, if you want to sit in the grandstands, you're welcome to do it. It's a free display, but if you'd like to donate to next year's fireworks, donation cans will be available from Hamilton's Mayor and City Councilors.
The display is once again being presented by the Bitterroot's own Steve Boshae from Cow Palace Fireworks. And there will be concessions for sale from Reel Flavors Food Truck. And, the main question we always get at KLYQ 1240 Radio - when does it start? We are guessing about 9:30 p.m. at the earliest, but more likely around 10 p.m.
