A 28-year-old Hamilton man charged with threatening a Missoula police officer and his family is jailed on $15,000 bail and will be fitted with a GPS tracking device if he posts bond.

Kody Eugene McCowen appeared in Justice Court Monday on a felony charge of threats in official and political matters.

Court records say McCowen was arrested at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday after parking in front of a "no parking" sign at a Missoula fire station.

On his way to the jail, he yelled profanities and spit on and kicked the back window of the police car. Court records say McCowen threatened to track down the officer, shoot him, and assault his wife and daughter.
