GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — A Great Falls man convicted of killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

David Wayne Hyslop was sentenced Wednesday. He was found guilty in May of deliberate homicide in the June 25, 2011 death of October Perez in a Utah hospital, two days after she was taken to the hospital in Great Falls with head trauma, a broken spine and older fractures to both of her arms.

Prosecutors alleged the girl's death was the culmination of a pattern of abuse she suffered at the hands of Hyslop.

Hyslop's attorney argued someone else who was living in the house was responsible for the girl's death.
