Gas Prices in Montana Expected to Continue Minimal Increases
Gas prices are expected to keep rising in Montana. Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski says motorists are using the low costs of gas to fuel their summer plans.
We think we’ll see these prices go up incrementally, not very much,” Laskoski said. “When they do peak we still believe that the national average will peak at a much lower level than it was last year. That means consumers will continue to save for the remainder of 2016.”
Gas prices in the state remain eight cents below the national average, as of Monday June 6, even with the two cent increase we saw last week.
“Because retail gasoline prices have been so low for so long that actually serves at a catalyst for leisure travel,” Laskoski said. “I think a lot of people just instinctively figure that with prices in this range they’re not going to get much better that where they are right now. So a lot people are making those summer trips.”
Despite the slight increase in Montana, gas prices remain nearly forty cents lower than this time last year.
