Stylists Offer Free Haircuts to Missoula Elementary School Students
With the average price of a child’s haircut coming in at about $20, parents are always looking for a bargain.
I spoke with Franklin Elementary School Principal Greg Harrison on Thursday who said for the second year in a row, his school and Hawthorne Elementary will receive free haircuts by appointment next week, in preparation for the new school year.
Franklin and Hawthorne Schools to Get Free Haircuts and Skin Care
“On Wednesday, August 21st we're hosting a haircut and skin care event,” began Harrison. “Andi from Ultra Salon has gotten together with some hair stylists, and they've created opportunities for kids to come get free haircuts and to go through some skincare routines.”
Another big cost for parents is new school clothes, and help is on the way for Franklin parents there, as well.
Students Will Also Receive Some New School Clothes
“On top of that, we have Kristine Asanovich, our Family Resource Center coordinator, who will be here helping out, by passing out some free clothing to families. In addition, we’re going to have some free food for folks as well.”
Harrison included students from Hawthorne Elementary, as well.
“It’s for Franklin kids, and we've also invited Hawthorne kids to participate in it, just because we had some extra slots available,” he said. “So there's going to be about 126 haircuts that are that are available next week. And I think maybe 50 or 60, skin care routines. So it’s going to be pretty fun.”

The Event is Only for Franklin and Hawthorne School Students
Just to note, this is a private event only for Franklin and Hawthorne students whose parents sign up for in advance.
“I created a sign up through Sign Up Genius, and sent it out to Franklin families, and then Miss Keilman, the principal over at Hawthorne, sent it out to Hawthorne families that folks have just signed up for the 20-minute slot that would work best for them to just come on over to Franklin. We do it right here in the cafeteria. We’ll set up several six different stations for kids to get their hair cut.”
A big thank you to the generous stylists and skin care specialists who are donating their time and talents.
