Foresters’ Ball Attendees Face Breathalyzer Tests
MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — University of Montana President Royce Engstrom has issued an order that everyone who attends next year's Foresters' Ball take a Breathalyzer test at the door.
The Missoulian reports that Engstrom issued the order in a recent memo to forestry students in response to their ideas for eliminating binge drinking and debauchery at the 95-year-old party that takes place on campus.
students call the Breathalyzer test offensive and intrusive. Engstrom says he's willing to continue negotiating to find a workable solution.
At last year's event, students were thrown out or refused admission due to excessive intoxication, putting the future of the event at risk.
Students drafted a 30-page strategic plan that outlined new security and eliminated the "passion pit."
Engstrom agreed to the changes but suggested several of his own.
