Flu Takes the Life of Missoula Kindergartener

Absolutely heartbreaking news this morning as we have learned of the passing of a Missoula 6-year-old due to the flu.

According to a GoFundMe page created by Raelene Whiteshield on behalf of her sister Crystal Whiteshield, little Allison Eaglespeaker was a kindergartner at Russell Elementary School. She passed away on Saturday, December 1st at Community Medical Center due to Influenza B and Pneumonia.

GoFundMe funds will be used for funeral and travel expenses as Allison's final resting place will be Star School, near Browning. There is a memorial planned for tonight, Monday, December 3rd at the Open Door Baptist Church starting at 7. A dinner organized by the Missoula Urban Indian Health Center, MCPS Indian Education Department and Taco Sano will follow.
