Montana Gov. Steve Bullock has ordered flags flown at half-staff Saturday in honor of Fort Shaw Fire Chief Dave Anderson, who was fatally injured while responding to a fire.

Bullock issued the order Friday and said his thoughts and prayers were with Anderson's family.

Anderson died Aug. 25. He was injured a month earlier when the water tender he was driving collided with a fire truck. Both were responding to a grass fire west of Great Falls.

Authorities said the fire truck had missed a turnoff and was making a U-turn when the collision occurred.

The Cascade County Coroner's Office said Anderson died from injuries from the crash and from cardiac complications.

Anderson was a volunteer firefighter for 45 years and was Fort Shaw chief for more than 30 years.
