An evacuation alert has been lifted for residents living near a fire straddling the Idaho-Montana border after crews decided there's no longer a high probability of having to ask people to leave.

The Saddle Complex has burned more than 42 square miles of lodgepole pine and sub-alpine fir in two national forests since starting on Aug. 14.

Elsewhere in the region, several other wildfires continue to keep crews busy.

The 18-square-mile Salt fire on Idaho's Salmon-Challis National Forest is being fought by seven helicopters, 10 engines, six bulldozers and 15 water tenders.

And the 41 Complex fire in the Sapphire Mountains east of Hamilton, Mont., doubled in size on Sunday to more than 2,000 acres.
