Man on Felony Probation Arrested for His 7th DUI in Missoula

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 15th, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a Missoula County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was dispatched to a disturbance on the 5000 block of Avalon Lane in Lolo. Dispatch advised that 44-year-old Jason Hurt had assaulted his girlfriend’s son and left in a lifted silver pickup. It was also reported that Hurt was extremely intoxicated prior to leaving. 

A deputy observed a silver pickup traveling northbound on Hwy 93 S and followed the vehicle to identify it. The vehicle slowed down and drifted off the right shoulder of the roadway. Dispatch ran the license plate which returned the vehicle as belonging to Hurt.  

The deputy saw the pickup drift over the center line numerous times until reaching the round-about where it appeared to have missed its turn when it circled the roundabout completely before exiting onto Lower Miller Creek Rd.  

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and asked Hurt to step out of the vehicle. As he exited the vehicle, Hurt had no shoes on and was stumbling. The deputy noticed that Hurt’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot, he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, and he was slurring his speech.  

Hurt was mirandized and stated that he had nothing to say. Hurt refused field sobriety tests and refused to provide a blood or breath sample. Law enforcement was granted a warrant to seize blood from Hurt’s person for further toxicology testing. The warrant was executed at St. Patrick’s Hospital and the State awaits the results of toxicology testing.

Hurt was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony DUI and assault. According to court documents, Hurt has six prior convictions for DUI and is currently on felony probation. His bond was set at $25,000.
