Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Last week, Sheriff and Coroner, Jeremiah Petersen, identified key 2025 statistics demonstrating the hard work of your Missoula County Sheriff’s Office. 

“These numbers demonstrate a continued commitment by this office for proactive citizen engagement, traffic safety, and care, custody, and supervision of those held in the Detention Facility,” said Petersen. 

Our Patrol Division responded to: 

  • 16,181 Officer-initiated calls (4,552 more calls than in 2024) 
  • 5,584 Calls received by 911 
  • 5,650 Phone Calls 
  • 268 DUI Stops (101 more than 2024) 
  • A grand TOTAL of 27,415 calls for service

In addition to the numerous calls for service above, Petersen said they also had 6,662 traffic stops; nearly double the number of stops in 2024. 

Our Detective Division took action on: 

  • 500 cases +/- cases investigated 
  • 216 cases were either referred to the County Attorney’s Office, closed, determined to be informational, or unfounded 
  • 173 cases were carried over into 2026 for further investigation 
  • They also logged 3,737 items of evidence, took 214 walk-in reports, requested 197 Search Warrants, and responded to 72 online reports. 

Missoula County Detention Facility booked: 

  • 4,361 adults (an average of one individual every two hours) 
  • 3,301 of those individuals were arrested on new offenses or warrants 
  • 245 juveniles
