Missoula Crime Report: Domestic Terrorism and Threatening to Kill Teens
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 18 new felony complaints this week. According to County Attorney Matt Jennings, eight of those were violent crimes against persons.
“That is the highest we've had in quite some time,” Jennings said. “Unfortunately, we had our first homicide of the year in Missoula County last Thursday. There were allegedly four bounty hunters from Billings who were here, and they were trying to stop a person who had a warrant for a drug possession case out of Billings and ended up shooting and killing him during that.”
Just because someone is a bounty hunter or bail bondsman, Jennings said that doesn't excuse them from the laws in Montana.

“We had another offense this week, which I can only label as domestic terrorism against, threatening to kill a doctor,” Jennings said. “A person was involved in a whole series of very scary incidents over a period of time. That person did end up turning himself in and Anaconda. That also is still under investigation to understand the full scope of everything that person has been involved in.”
Jennings said there was another incident where an individual fired over ten rounds in an alley of a busy neighborhood. He struck at least one car and was allegedly under the influence.
“Sadly, we had some other cases of people threatening to kill other folks,” Jennings said. “There was a person who was allegedly getting some whiskey for some teenagers, and they decided not to pay him. So he started threatening to kill all of them and go to their houses, and followed on social media, including showing up at somebody's home with a gun. We also had a PFA incident involving a gun and threats to kill a spouse.”
Non-Violent Crimes Reflect Drug Issues
There were a handful of non-violent cases this week as well.
“We had three endangerment crimes, and they all involved really serious driving behavior where people either almost got really hurt or did,” Jennings said. “We had one property crime which was related to drug use. Almost all of our thefts and burglaries are related to drugs and addiction. We had five drug crimes as well. I've mentioned this a few times, but we have been getting a lot more meth-involved crimes lately here in Missoula County.”
