Montana Attorney General Tim Fox told KGVO News on Tuesday afternoon that Social Security beneficiaries who have dependents and who do not file tax returns must act fast to receive an Economic Impact Payment of $500 per child.

“This is something that may have been overlooked by a lot of folks,” said Fox. “That is in addition to the $1200 stimulus that many Montanans may be receiving, there’s actually eligibility for some Montanans who qualify to get an additional $500.”

Fox clarified the offer from the IRS.

“This comes for Social Security beneficiaries who have children under the age of 17,” he said. “They are eligible for an additional $500 payment per child if they did not file taxes in 2018 or 2019, and the deadline is at noon on Wednesday, April 22nd.”

Fox provides instructions to apply for the extra payment.

“They have to go online to the IRS website and look for a page that says ‘non filers, enter payment information here’. Get that information in online before noon on Wednesday if you have a child under the age of 17.”

More information is available on the websites of the IRS and the Social Security Administration.
