Missoula Man Crashes Into His Garage Door, Arrested for Felony DUI
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On May 7, 2025, officers with the Missoula Police Department responded to a residence on Catrina Lane after receiving a report that a male had crashed his vehicle into his own garage door and was attempting to drive away. The complainant said the male had a decreased level of consciousness and was driving a white Ford Ranger.
Upon arrival, an officer observed a Ford Ranger parked diagonally in a driveway shared by two residences. The garage door to one of the residences was completely pushed in and destroyed. The officer made contact with the driver, who was later identified as 59-year-old Alan Beckman.
Beckman stated that he was having medical issues but did not elaborate. Beckman smelled of alcohol and exhibited slow, deliberate speech. He struggled to remove his seatbelt when asked to step out of the vehicle. The officer later observed a bottle of vodka directly behind the center console. When asked how much of the bottle he consumed that day, Beckman said, “About half.” Medical professionals evaluated and cleared Beckman.

Another officer arrived on scene to assist with a DUI investigation. He noted in his report that Beckman had red, watery eyes, slurred speech, and smelled of alcohol. Beckman informed the officer that he struggles to walk due to arthritis. Beckman refused to do the SFSTs and refused to provide a breath sample on the PBT unit.
An officer arrested Beckman and read him Implied Consent. Beckman agreed to provide a blood sample. After the blood draw at St. Patrick Hospital, the officer transported Beckman to jail and booked him for DUI.

Meanwhile, an officer spoke to Beckman’s neighbors. One of them reported sitting inside her residence, hearing a loud crash, and feeling her residence shake. According to court documents, she initially believed an earthquake was occurring. She then went outside and tried to get Beckman to get out of his truck, but he refused. Another neighbor had Ring surveillance that showed Beckman driving his truck on Catrina Lane prior to the 911 call, but did not capture the crash.
Beckman is currently being charged with felony DUI, and his bond was set at $20,000.
