The Ravalli County Commissioners are moving ahead with a major runway project at the Ravalli County Airport in Hamilton. Commissioners approved FAA "Airport Improvement" entitlement funding for geo-tech and engineering studies on moving the airport runway to the east. The $532,686 development agreement is just the beginning of the plan. Commissioner Jeff Burrows said an $11 million supplemental fund from the Federal Aviation Association will be the main source of construction money. He said the engineering study should be completed next year. Actual construction would probably not happen until the summer of 2021.

This year, land acquisition was a main goal of the commission. The airport east of Hamilton also has been undergoing extensive paving this year on taxi-ways around the hangers at the facility.
