Plum Creek Timber Co. has temporarily shut down its plywood plant in Columbia Falls after two workers were injured.

Tom Ray is Plum Creek's vice president of Northwest Resources and Manufacturing. He says the injuries prompted a safety review and the plant shut down Monday.

A worker at the plant says unsecured equipment severed some fingers of a woman at the plant. The second injury reportedly involved a worker in a forklift accident.

It was not immediately clear when those accidents happened.

Ray says the company already had been considering closing the plant for a short period due to market conditions.

The Columbia Falls plant employs roughly 140 workers.

Ray says the plant will be running again on Wednesday.
