Children Find Strange Man in Their Home Who Refused to Leave
Just after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, Missoula Police Officers responded to a residence on Russell Park Ct for a report that an unknown male had unlawfully entered and was refusing to leave. One of the children in the home found the unknown male after the family dog ran downstairs and started to bark. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“While the officers were en route, they discovered that there were five children in the home, ages 16 and under, and that the adults in the home had gone out to run some errands,” Welsh said. “Before the officers arrived, the adults in the home returned and the male had asked the suspect to leave three times. The suspect refused to leave. The woman of the house had gone upstairs to the second level where her children were hiding.”
The male of the house followed the suspect to the kitchen. He said he feared for the safety of his property, his family members, and himself due to the fact that the suspect had refused to leave the residence multiple times.
The male of the house said there were multiple knifes in plain sight within the suspect's reach that he could grab and begin to use as a weapon. The male of the house decided to take action to protect himself and his family.
“The male of the house began fighting with the suspect and was holding him down when officers arrived,” Welsh said. “The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Toby Wolfblack. Mr. Wolfblack was discovered to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody. He was also found to be in possession of a substance that was later determined to be cocaine.”
Court documents indicate Wolfblack allegedly smeared cocaine all over the back seat of the patrol car that was used to transport him to the Missoula County Detention Center.
According to Missoula County Attorney Carrie Garber, this is the third time Wolfblack has entered someone’s home uninvited and assaulted someone. Garber said the state believes Wolfblack is a danger to our community and asked that an additional bond be imposed of $50,000, but Judge Alex Beal decided to double that amount.
“I am going to set bond in the amount of $100,000 in your case,” Beal said. “If anything like the allegations here are correct, it is luck of the draw, a minor miracle, or something like that that no one shot you. If this is in fact a repeated instance, than whoever your guardian angel is is doing a hell of a job, but I would stop relying on them so heavily.”
Wolfblack was charged with three separate felony offenses including burglary, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
