MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Former Montana State distance runner Patrick Casey and Stanford basketball player Joslyn Tinkle were named the winners of Montana's Little Sullivan Awards over the weekend.

Casey, of Laurel, was a record-setting distance runner at MSU before transferring to Oklahoma. He beat the four-minute barrier in the mile last year while competing for the Bobcats.

Tinkle is a former Missoula Big Sky basketball player whose Stanford team advanced to the NCAA Final Four this season. Her mother won the Sullivan award while playing for the Montana women's basketball team in 1989.

The Montana Amateur Athletic Union hands out the Little Sullivan Awards based on athletic excellence along with leadership and character.
