After serving as interim ranger much of the year, Steve Brown now becomes the Stevensville District Ranger. The announcement was made this week by Bitterroot National Forest Supervisor Matt Anderson, who said in a news release, "He's a great listener, has a solid work ethic, and has demonstrated an ability to get work done at a landscape level."

Brown is a 16-year veteran of the Forest Service, having graduated from the University of Montana with a BA in Resource Conservation and a Masters in Forestry. He and his family live on a farm near Stevensville. Previously, he was Program Manager of the Northern Region's Geospatial Group and was Incident Commander for the 2017 Regional Post-Fire Incident Management Team.
