Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On March 21, 2025, at around 8:24 AM, the Missoula Police Department provided more information about the fire that occurred at HuHot a few days before. Captain Eddie McLean has the details.

"The Missoula Police Department responded to assist the Missoula Fire Department during a structure fire at the former Hu Hot building on Brooks on Wednesday, March 19th," McLean said. "Missoula Police Arson-Trained Detectives coordinated with Missoula Fire Investigators, who determined the fire originated in a shed. The Detectives were able to obtain surveillance video of a suspect."

McLean said an off-duty police officer observed a female matching the description of the suspect and notified the Detectives.

"The female was identified as Amy Birk," McLean said. "She was interviewed by Detectives and later arrested for arson and booked into the Missoula County Detention Facility. The Missoula Police Department appreciates the assistance from our community in obtaining surveillance, enabling us to quickly identify and apprehend the suspect in this case."

We will provide more information about this incident when it becomes available.
