An Arlee man, 47 year-old Stanley Oliver is in the Missoula County Jail on $25,000 after being charged with strangling and woman and kneeing her in the face which resulted in several stitches at a local hospital.

At Oliver’s Missoula Justice Court appearance via video on Thursday, Deputy Missoula County Attorney Meghann Paddock asked substitute Justice of the Peace Shandor Badaruddin for $25,000 bond.

“The defendant strangled, pushed and kneed his girlfriend in the face and then took her truck without permission,” said Paddock. “She ultimately had to get six stitches over her eye as a result of the defendant’s assault on her, and he has two prior partner of family member assaults, so the state has significant concerns about both the victim’s safety and the community’s safety should the defendant be released.”

Paddock also asked for standard conditions should Oliver post bail and be released.

“That he have no contact with the victim Jane Doe, be precluded and excluded from her residence, be placed on GPS monitoring, not be permitted to have or possess any weapons and be prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol or drugs and be placed on alcohol or drug monitoring,” she said.
Judge Badaruddin set bail at $25,000, after the public defender requested that he be released on his own recognizance.
