KGVO News reached out to Montana Attorney General Tim Fox after the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision on Friday that same-sex marriage is now legal in all fifty states.

The Attorney General issued the following written statement.

“Today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling effectively decided the State of Montana’s appeal of Judge Morris’s decision striking down our state’s constitutional marriage amendment, which is before the Ninth Circuit now. Fulfilling the duty of the Attorney General’s Office, I have defended Montana’s 2004 voter-approved marriage amendment until no avenue remained for doing so. The nation’s highest court has spoken on this matter, and though I disagree with the ruling, it is now the law of the land.”
