A Butte Man and a Local Transient Were Nabbed With Drugs in Missoula
At about 1:15 Friday morning, a Missoula Police officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Broadway without headlights on. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains what happened next.
“The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with two vehicle occupants,” Welsh said. “The driver was identified as 38-year-old Anthony Gonzalo and the passenger was identified as 28-year-old John Akers. Through the course of the investigation, the officers suspected that the two were involved in drug activity.”
After further investigation, Welsh says the two men were arrested for drug related charges.
“The investigation yielded that they were in possession of dangerous drugs and also items commonly used in the distribution of dangerous drugs. Gonzalo also had outstanding warrants for his arrest. According to records, Gonzalo is a resident of Butte and Akers is a local transient.”
Welsh says the vehicle was seized and the suspects were scheduled to appear in justice court on Friday afternoon.
