Lewis and Clark County authorities say a 15-year-old girl and her 18-year-old sister are charged with assaulting a peace officer who was trying to arrest the younger girl for absconding from juvenile probation.

Sheriff Leo Dutton says that deputies patrolling at the fair last week received a report that the 15-year-old was in the carnival area.

One deputy was attempting to arrest the 15-year-old when 18-year-old Amber Lynn Fredrick tackled the deputy.

Dutton says the 15-year-old girl tried to pull the deputy's gun from the holster during the struggle. The sisters ran away, but were arrested a short time later.

The 15-year-old was taken to the juvenile detention center in Great Falls. Fredrick was jailed.

Both also are charged with resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.
