11-Year-Old Girl Hit By Car In Helena Dies

Authorities say an 11-year-old girl died after she was hit by a car on an Interstate 15 onramp in Helena.

Lewis and Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson says Haile Barrett of Helena was walking with a friend across the two-lane onramp at 11th Avenue when she was struck at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. She died at a local hospital about 45 minutes later.

No other injuries were reported.

The accident happened near the Capitol interchange, where a pedestrian bridge is currently being constructed.

The bridge is expected to be completed the second week in November.
