The American Cancer Society has updated its prevention guidelines. New priorities such as maintaining a healthy weight and exercising regularly are now side by side with kicking the smoking habit for those who want to reduce their risk of developing cancer. People who are overweight have higher levels of insulin and estrogen in their systems. Cancer Society spokesperson Denise Kolba explains why an excess of those particular chemicals is a problem.

Nutritionally, the focus is on smaller portion sizes. Cancer Society member Greg Cameron tells us what we can do to keep our bodies under control.

The American Cancer Society predicts that about 5,500 Montanans will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Hopefully, the new guidelines will help to correct that course.
