If you've ever considered running to be the mayor of Missoula or a member of the city council, now is the time to file. The filing window is open between April 29 and June 27.

Chief Deputy of the Missoula City  Clerk and Recorder's office Rebecca Connors already knows some of the names that will be popping up on yard signs in the near future.

"So far in Ward 6 we have a filing for Marilyn Marler," said Connors. "Nobody has filed for Ward 5. John Wilkins has filed for Ward 4. For Ward 3 we have Emily Bentley. No one has filed for Ward 2, and finally, for Ward 1 we have Bryan Von Lossberg."

Familiar faces from city council such as Dick Haines, Dave Strohmaier and Bob Jaffe have indicated so far that they have decided not to run again.

Mayor John Engen, on the other hand will run for another term. Also, Kathleen Jenks has thrown her hat into the ring for the position of Municipal Court Judge.

Those that file will need to pay a processing fee that is equivalent to one percent of the position's yearly salary. Those that run for Mayor must pay a fee of $791. City council candidates, on the other hand, only need to pay roughly $134.
