The University Of Montana Basketball squads spilt a couple of games on Saturday against Idaho State. The Grizzly men were on the road & cruised to an easy 68-44 win over the Bengals in Holt Arena. The Grizzly defense caused 16 first-half turnovers as they ran out to a 26-10 lead. The Grizzlies led 36-18 at the half and were never really challenged in the second-half. All five Montana starters scored in double digits with Cherry had 15, Kareem Jamar had 12, Derek Selvig and Mathias Ward had 11, and Art Steward had 10. Will Cheery also led the Grizzlies’ defensive efforts , grabbing four steals. The win puts Montana at 10-5 overall & 2-0 in Big Sky play.

Meanwhile, The Lady Griz fell comeback fell short in a 58-51 loss to Idaho State at Dahlberg Arena. Both teams played tight defense as the Bengals built a 29-26 halftime lead. Montana fell behind 42-10 with 13 minutes left in the contest. Then the Lady Griz staged a rally behind back-to-back three-pointers from Kellie Cole and Alyssa Smith, to close to gap to 44-43. Idaho State remained composed and pulled away in the final minutes. The win was the Bengals 1st against Montana in 10 tries. The win left Idaho State in sole-possession of 1st place in The Big Sky race. Montana slips to 8-7 on the season & 1-1 in Conference standings.
