Missoula County Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene of a shooting early Thanksgiving morning up Highway 200 near Bonner.

Sheriff's Captain Bill Burt said the shooting occurred before 6:00 a.m.

"Shortly before 6:00 a.m. Missoula 9-1-1 received a call from a resident on Highway 200 East near Bonner," Burt said. "The caller was reporting that an unknown male was pounding on his front door just a few minutes before he called. When he opened the door, he discovered the man had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his face."

Burt said deputies and medical personnel rushed to the scene.

"The male ended up being transported to St. Patrick Hospital, where he is listed in stable, but serious condition. Missoula County deputies and detectives are still on scene, and the investigation is ongoing."

The man's identity has not been released, and as yet, no suspects are in custody.
