Wolf Hunting To Close In NW MT As Quota Reached

Wildlife officials say wolf hunting will close in portions of northwest Montana on Thursday after hunters filled the harvest quota for the area. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks spokesman Tom Palmer said hunters filled the 19-wolf quota for a wildlife management area that includes portions of Lincoln and Flathead counties.

Wolf Pup Struck And Killed By Car Near Darby

State wildlife officials say a wolf pup was killed when it was struck by a car on U.S. Highway 93 about two miles south of Darby.

Fish, Wildlife and Parks Warden Lou Royce says the female pup was killed either late Sunday night or Monday morning.

Wolves Kill Four Calves, One Wolf Shot

Officials say two wolf attacks on private ranches south of Butte and another attack at a private ranch west of Helena has resulted in the deaths of four calves and one of the wolves.

Nathan Lance of the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks says that the attacks took place on ranches near Dell, Polaris and Avon.
