There was a brief Veteran's Day ceremony on Wednesday in front of the snow-covered Doughboy Statue at the Missoula County Courthouse. Speakers included a military chaplain and Susan Campbell Reneau of the United Veterans Council.
The Veterans Day ceremony at the Doughboy Statue in from of the county courthouse commemorated a little known campaign fought by American troops in Russia after the end of WWI.
On a cold Monday, November 11, a few dozen veterans, community officials and military historians met at the Doughboy Statue in downtown Missoula to commemorate an operation in which American troops were sent to fight in Russia following the end of World War I.
Today is Veterans Day and there are many activities celebrating the men and women who served and are currently serving our country, including many free of discounted meals.
