August 29, 2011 School is in session and children will be getting on and off buses throughout Western Montana. Montana Highway Patrol trooper Richard Salois reminds drivers to be extra careful around school crossings and when buses with lights flashing are loading and unloading children. August 17, 2011 What is the truth about marijuana and impaired driving in Montana? State Coordinator for the Drug Recognition Expert Program for the Montana Highway Patrol, Trooper Curt Sager has a lot to say about the subject. I spoke with Trooper Sager Wednesday for over 25 minutes about how the increased use of marijuana is indeed causing an alarming number of traffic accidents, including fatalities. July 5, 2011 The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the 3rd victim in Saturday night’s 2-vehicle head-on crash that claimed three lives. Detective Lieutenant Mike Sargeant identified the third victim as 22 year old Stephanie Nicole Parker of Arlee. Parker, her husband and two children were in a Pontiac Grand Am that was struck by a Hyundai Tiburon driven by 19 year-old Trevor Olson of Missoula. Olson and his 14 year-old cousin Tanner Olson were also killed in the crash. Parker’s two children, a 4 year-old and an infant were taken to Missoula and then to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries.

July 2, 2011 One man was killed and another seriously injured just before 7 o’clock Saturday morning in a two-vehicle accident on U. S. Highway 93 near Hamilton. According to a Montana Highway Patrol Dispatcher and Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman, the driver of the first vehicle, a pickup truck, lost control and crashed head-on into the second vehicle, also a pickup. The 53 year-old man driving the first truck was killed at the scene, while the second driver was transported via life-flight to a Missoula hospital.
