The state says five legislative candidates are being removed from the ballot for failing to file disclosure paperwork with the commissioner of political practices.

Former Republican Secretary of State Brad Johnson was on an early list of those to be removed. But his name was taken off a revised list available late Wednesday.

Johnson complained to election officials after his name was among those listed on the website as being removed from the ballot. He said he attempted to e-mail in the documents.

Johnson lost a 2008 re-election bid to current Secretary of State Linda McCulloch, and then a 2010 primary bid for the public service commission.

The revised Montana commissioner of political practices office letter says three Republican and two Democratic legislative candidates missed Tuesday's deadline.
