Believe it or not, snow has fallen in the Treasure State. National Weather Service Meteorologist Ryan Leach has details:

"We had a cold front come through today. We've got some snow falling up at Lost Trail Pass, and we've also got snow falling over at Georgetown Lake, and I'm sure up over at Skalkaho Pass and some of those areas as well," Leach said. "So far what we've been able to see is it's mainly about 6000 feet or above and it's been falling mainly in the southern Bitterroot mountains, across the Sapphire Mountains, heading up to Butte and Anaconda, but I really think it will stay in the hills above both of those areas."

Leach said even though it’s not considered to be a “major snow,” the snow is still covering the ground and starting to accumulate.

"At least on Lost Trail Pass I'm pretty sure there's been a plow that's come by, but it's mainly sticking above 6000 feet," Leach said. "There's still a lot of heat in the ground. You know, we're just coming out of summer, we've had some really nice, warm, sunny days, especially for October. So the ground is still really warm and I don't think folks are needing to plow too much. Just slow down because the heat in the ground is going to melt it pretty quick."

Leach said more rain is expected for the rest of the week.
