In a statement on Thursday, September 12, U.S. Senator John Tester joined the growing ranks of U.S. congressional delegates that are opposed to a military strike on Syria.

“The use of chemical weapons is deplorable,” Tester said. “After weighing the fact, and listening to Montanans, I’m convinced a military strike at this time will only make the situation worse. The best solution here is to keep putting international pressure on Syria to give up its chemical weapons.”

A majority of Montanans appear to be opposed to the strike. Senator Tester’s statement comes just four days after Congressman Steve Daines declared that he too was opposed to a military strike.

Montana’s other U.S. Senator, Max Baucus has not yet expressed how he would vote on the matter.
