Sage Stallone, the son of Sylvester Stallone, was found dead by his housekeeper alone in his Los Angeles apartment on Friday afternoon. Paramedics pronounced the 36-year-old’s death when they arrived on the scene.

TMZ reports that the cause was due to an overdose of prescription pills found in his apartment, though details regarding his state of mind are unclear.

Sylvester Stallone was recently in San Diego promoting his new movie ‘The Expendables 2‘ at a Comic-Con 2012 panel. Michelle Bega, his rep, said, “Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son Sage Stallone. His compassion and thoughts are with Sage’s mother, Sasha.  Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man. His loss will be felt forever.” Sage’s mother Sasha Czack has also been notified about the tragedy.

According to The New York Post, the LAPD are referring the case to a coroner and don’t suspect any criminal activity.

Sage’s claim to fame came back in 1990 when he premiered side-by-side his father in ‘Rocky V,’ then again in 1996 for ‘Daylight.’ From there, he moved into the producing and directing side of film.

“He was in good spirits, and working on all kinds of projects,” said Sage’s attorney George Braunstein in a statement. He was planning on getting married. I am just devastated. He was an extremely wonderful, loving guy. This is a tragedy.”
