BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Former Montana State University linebacker Robert Trammell will be allowed to continue his studies, but it's not clear whether he'll return to the football team after being kicked off for a bar fight.

Trammell's attorney, Lucas Foust, said Trammell appeared at a student advisory council meeting on Tuesday. Foust declined to speak further about the proceedings.

Foust tells the Bozeman Daily Chronicle (http://bit.ly/HtH6Zb ) that a hearing with Athletic Director Peter Fields, coach Rob Ash and others also has been held. MSU officials have not yet issued a statement on their decision on whether to reinstate Trammell.

In February, Trammell was charged with misdemeanor assault after a bar fight that also involved basketball player Xavier Blount.

Blount suffered a season-ended injury to his shoulder.

Trammell has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
